How to bring back the Start Menu to the Windows 8 Desktop
- In the Windows 8 Desktop, launch Windows Explorer, click the View tab on the toolbar, and check the box next to "Hidden items." That will display folders and files that are normally hidden from view.
- Right-click the taskbar and select Toolbars-->New Toolbar.
How do I restore my Start menu?
Press the Windows key on the keyboard to bring up the Start Menu. This should also make the taskbar appear. Right-Click on the now-visible taskbar and select Taskbar Settings. Click on the 'Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode' toggle so that the option is disabled.
Why has my start menu disappeared?
If your taskbar comes back and then disappears, it is likely set to “auto-hide” right-click (right mouse button) on the taskbar and select properties. Then, uncheck the auto-hide feature.
