Why are tracking cookies bad?
Tracking cookies are neither good or bad. They are simply small text files, that in and of themselves don't do anything. Tracking cookies are silently dropped on the user's computer, but they can't do any damage there and they hardly take up any space.
Can you not track cookies?
Turn "Do Not Track" on or off
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More. Settings.
- Under "Privacy and security," click Cookies and other site data.
- Turn Send a "Do not track" request with your browsing traffic on or off.
Should I have Do Not Track be on or off?
Do Not Track is a great idea, but when it comes down it, the technology has no bite. Companies can---and usually do---choose to ignore it and face no consequences for doing so. Despite this, you should enable the setting for the few sites that honor the setting.
